A master cosmetology shear sharpener trained me in classical Japanese technique. He taught me that exceptional sharpening requires intelligent analysis and skillful execution. It also requires improving the work of unqualified sharpeners...

...Here's how it began:

My mom has owned a salon my entire life, so I grew up observing her deftly practice the art of hairstyling and relationship-building. The older I get, the more I understand and appreciate the importance of her profession. Everyday joy fills my mom's salon. Her clients trust her creativity and skill. They also trust her to welcome them with warmth, to honor their preferences with sincerity, and to listen to their triumphs and tribulations with empathy. My mom taught me that stylists touch people's lives in meaningful ways. That’s why it’s an honor to sharpen shears. I deeply respect hair professionals and believe that their primary tools also deserve respect.

I've always pursued excellence with uncommon attention to detail and quality. That's why I sharpen well. Suffolk University awarded me a full scholarship, and I graduated as valedictorian with honors in philosophy. After exploring the world and various career paths, I realized I needed to serve others and work with my hands. When my mom couldn't find anyone to service her shears satisfactorily, I discovered my calling. Working with shears is a tremendously fulfilling hands-on meditation. I love it: an outlet for the perfectionist drive and a way to serve amazing people.

Selling shears became a natural outgrowth on the path. I am proud to offer instruments I believe in, and it's always exciting to find that perfect fit for each unique stylist.
